What Happened – Report of Racist Harassment
BART received a report on February 12th, 2022 from a residence hall resident.  On Saturday, February 12th, the reporting student and a friend—who are both Black women—were walking from Buenger toward Currito at about 12AM. A group of white men began making monkey noises toward them and continued with these noises as the women kept walking.  According to the reporting student, another friend of hers also experienced a similar incident last week.

What Happened: White Supremacy Group Vandalized Campus
On March 23rd, during late evening hours, signage on Bellarmine Chapel reading "Black Lives Matter" and "Racism is a Sin" was vandalized; also, racist propaganda stickers were found placed around the campus.  The stickers promote the same hate group that also vandalized the campus area with stickers in January 2021, April 2021, and August 2021.

BART was informed of this incident and determined that it meets the University’s definition of a bias incident due to the nature of the signage that was damaged, and due to the nature of the stickers with which University property was vandalized.  The matter has been referred to XUPD for investigation. Additionally, Xavier University is also finalizing plans for a permanent fixture on campus that will confirm commitments to anti-racism and, hopefully, be less vulnerable to vandalism, going forward.
