In accordance with Xavier's Anti-Hazing policy and Collin's Law, all students and employees are required to complete an online Hazing Awareness and Prevention training.  

Anti-Hazing Violation Report

Consistent with Collin’s Law, the University will maintain a list of all violations of the Hazing Policy beginning with the 2022-2023 academic year.  As of August 2025, Xavier University has the following information to report:

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. - Sigma Gamma Chapter

The Sigma Gamma Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. required students in the member intake process to participate in late night practices called “sets” to prepare to join the fraternity. Member candidates were required to memorize certain specific information to recite. At these “sets” member candidates were paddled, pushed, shoved, required to do push-ups and planks if they didn’t memorize the information correctly.

2.2.2 – Endangering Behavior

The Sigma Gamma Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha is suspended for 8 years as an organization at Xavier. This means they lose all rights and privileges and cannot operate in any way as part of the University. The organization is eligible to return in the fall of 2033.
