Health Services Administration StudentsThe graduate program in health services administration (GPHSA) was established in 1958 and has a strong tradition of success in the field of health services administration. Upon successful completion of the program coursework and the administrative residency, students are awarded a Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA) degree. The program is accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME).

  • PAID RESIDENCY: One of only 7 programs in the nation to feature a paid residency. Internships--many of which are also paid-- are available during the summers between spring & fall semesters. 
  • GENEROUS FUNDING: Internal & external funding opportunities available each year of the full time program. Fall 2024 admits to the full time program receive at least $8,000 in scholarships for their first year. Additional funding is awarded for subsequent years.

Reputation

Xavier's Health Services Administration Graduate program has an excellent national reputation and is the only program in the country to have received inaugural CAHME awards two years in a row.

Our MHSA students have recently won first prize in case competitions at Ohio State University (2023) and UCLA (2024), beating out Ivy League and some of the best-known state schools in the nation. Paid Administrative Residency

Our graduate program features a paid 8-12 month administrative residency under the preceptorship of senior-level management (presidents, vice presidents, chief executive officers). The average annual residency stipend our most recently placed cohort is $61,500.

Alumni Network

We have an alumni base more than 1,700 strong around the United States and in several foreign countries, many in significant leadership positions in a variety of health care settings including hospitals, group practices, consulting firms, VA health systems, and long-term care facilities.

Xavier's Health Services Administration program has small class sizes, which offer a personal touch from GPHSA faculty and staff who are genuinely committed to providing each student with the time and expertise needed to succeed.
