Men and Women for Others: Thinkers, Inspirers, and Leaders in Health Services Administration

Xavier's Master of Health Services Administration (originally Hospital Administration) was established in 1958 and has a strong tradition of success in the field of health services administration. Upon successful completion of the program coursework and the administrative residency, students are awarded a Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA) degree. The program has been continuously accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) since 1969, when accreditation began.

Xavier MHSA students Brittany Schaulis, Steven Kunz and Cayden Owens won the 12th annual First-Year Health Administration Case Competition, hosted by The Ohio State University in April 2023.

Xavier's MHSA has an excellent national reputation and is the only program in the country to have received inaugural CAHME awards two years in a row.

Our MHSA students have recently won first prize in case competitions at Ohio State University (2023) and UCLA (2024), beating out Ivy League and some of the best-known state schools in the nation. Paid Administrative Residency

Our MHSA program features a paid 8-12 month administrative residency (or longer 12-24 month fellowship) under the preceptorship of senior-level management (presidents, vice presidents, chief executive officers). The average annual residency stipend our most recently placed cohort is $61,500.

Alumni Network

We have an alumni base more than 2,000 strong around the United States and in several foreign countries, many in significant leadership positions in a variety of health care settings including hospitals, group practices, consulting firms, VA health systems, and long-term care facilities.

Small Class Size

Xavier's MHSA program has small class sizes, which offer a personal touch from MHSA faculty and staff who are genuinely committed to providing each student with the time and expertise needed to succeed.

Our program has been accredited by CAHME (formerly ACEHSA) every year since accreditation began, in 1969.
