Multi-Tiered Systems and Support (MTSS), Certificate
The Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Certificate at Xavier University is a total of nine credit hours. The MTSS certificate appropriately prepares current and future educational leaders to facilitate MTSS Programs in an educational setting.
Interested students must be enrolled at the Graduate level. All three MTSS courses are delivered 100% asynchronous with rigorous and robust learning modules over an eight week period. Enrolled MTSS Certificate students may complete the program in two semesters.
Curriculum
EDAD 500: Curriculum and Behavioral MTSS
3 credit hours
The purpose of this course is to provide students an in-depth and introduction to the foundational concepts and recent history of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) in primary and secondary school settings. Students will learn of the rationale behind and intended outcomes of multi-tiered systems of support in K-12 settings; how these systems are often organized and function; and how to critically evaluate the viability of MTSS/PBIS and the development of interventions.
EDAD 501: MTSS & Support I: Academic
3 credit hours
The purpose of this course is to provide a framework of understanding for establishing an MTSS system that supports all students in the academic realm for students who are "at risk". This will include establishing, organizing, assessing a school wide MTSS program.
EDAD 502: MTSS & Behavioral Intervention
3 credit hours
The purpose of this course is to provide a framework of understanding for establishing an MTSS system that supports all students in developing an internal locus of control. Often also called Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports (PBIS) this will include establishing, organizing, assessing a school wide MTSS program

State Authorization
Due to state regulations regarding the delivery of distance education, as well as requirements of each individual state board of nursing, Xavier is not currently able to accept applications from all states into all of its online programs.
