For New Students
Checklist
1. FERPA
The Family Education Rights and Privacy Rights Act (FERPA) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education record. Once a student is 18 years old or attends a school beyond high school level, certain information is protected and can only be released with the student's authorization. Proxy acces is a way for students to authorize others to see their university information or talk about it with Xavier University staff.
Proxy Access
Proxy access gives the students the ability to authorize parents, guardians and others to view and discuss their university information with Xavier staff. Individuals who have been granted Proxy Access will be able to view student grades, financial aid award information, and student account and billing details.
For more details about how to designate a proxy, we encourage students to visit the Proxy Access page.

5. Tuition Insurance
All students will automatically be charged for tuition insurance in the Fall semester (Spring semester if they do not attend in Fall). If the student doesn't want or need this coverage, the student or parent must take action to waive it by visiting www.tuitionprotection.com/xavier. The deadline to waive this tuition insurance is midnight Eastern Time on the Sunday after the semester has started. This insurance is administered by A.W.G. Dewar and provides coverage for tuition and mandatory fees paid to the University at 85% of covered costs. Room and Board are not covered. Refunds may be affected by financial aid award adjustments. This plan significantly extends and enhances the University's existing tuition refund/credit policy. Take time to fully consider this insurance option as there will be no exceptions for refund or credit of tuition and fees if the student has to withdraw during the semester for a covered medical reason and doesn't have insurance coverage through this option. For more information, contact A.W.G. Dewar at 617-774-1555.
The waiver period for Fall 2023 is 07/01/2023 - 09/06/2023
The waiver period for Spring 2024 is 12/01/2023 - 01/24/2024
The cost of tuition insurance is $205.00 for undergraduate students and $53 for graduate students
