Adult and Professional Education (APEX)

Brenda Kraner, Ph.D.

Director, APEX (Adult and Professional Education at Xavier)

I have been working with adult learners since the early 90s. My undergraduate degree is from Otterbein University in Psychology with a minor in Business. During my junior year, I began an internship that led to continued employment educating inmates in a women’s prison. Shortly afterwards I earned my MA in Applied Behavioral Sciences at Wright State University. During my graduate assistantship and in partnership with a grant through the Ohio Department of Development, I began designing and delivering employee development programs for organizations throughout Ohio, later directing the program full-time.

I started adjunct teaching in the Organizational Leadership program (initially created as a degree completion program) at Wright State University in 2000 and joined as full-time faculty in 2008. During my last few years at Wright State University, I served as the Program Director for Organizational Leadership while earning my Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in Workforce Development and Education (HRD). In 2021, I joined Wilmington College Cincinnati to launch their new Master of Organizational Leadership degree.

My areas of interest include employee engagement, leadership studies, and internal corporate social responsibility.

I am very excited about this program and the opportunity we have to help adult students pursue a four-year degree and elevate their career and job opportunities to new heights.
