Overview
Xavier University's Bachelor of Liberal Arts (BLA) program offers transfer adult learners a flexible and enriching path to achieving your degree.

Whether you're looking to advance in your current role, pivot to a new field, or simply complete a degree you started years ago, the Bachelor of Liberal Arts at Xavier University provides the intellectual agility and ethical grounding you need to thrive. The degree is offered full- or part-time through the Accelerated Degree Completion program offering classes in 8-week sessions or in traditional day or evening classes.

Curriculum

In addition to Xavier’s undergraduate core curriculum, students take 38 credit hours of upper division courses for a total of 120 hours.

  • Students may add a minor or a concentration to their liberal arts degree.
  • The 38 hours may be distributed across two academic areas.
  • No more than 30 hours in business courses and no more than 12 hours in any one business subject area may be applied to the degree.
Outcomes
98% of Xavier students are working, volunteering or in graduate school within six months of graduation (Class of 2023).

Professional Development

Xavier's Career Development Office assists students in their search for employment by offering individual career counseling sessions, conducting workshop series on interviewing and resume writing techniques and maintaining an educational, vocational and employer information resource center.

CORE 103

Goa gets its name from the city in India where St. Francis Xavier traveled to experience new opportunities, cultures, and customs, and to interact with and inspire the people he encountered. This course consists of modules that relate to being successful at Xavier, both inside and outside the classroom.

APEX 100

Adult students reflect on and articulate their academic, professional, and personal goals as they begin their college education at Xavier.

APEX 200 

Students learn how to identify professional opportunities that fit with their values, skills, and personality traits as well as effective networking, resumé writing, and interview skills to improve their ability to be successful in their chosen career path.

THEO 111

A basic study of human and religious faith, especially the Christian faith, the connection between faith and religion, the personal and social value of religion, the diversity of world religions, and the issues connected with religious diversity and global responsibility.

Literature and the Moral Imagination. Personal and social ethical issues in literature.
