DOWNING RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP

The purpose of the Downing Scholarship is to support scholarly activity in the College and to develop the talents of outstanding undergraduate students in the Williams College of Business.  This program runs for three semesters (spring-fall-spring). Between 3-6 scholarship opportunities are available each year.

Students selected for the program receive an award of $2,000 per semester and are paired with a faculty member to collaborate on academic business research. Students will work about 5-10 hours per week on a project during which time they will enhance their research and investigative skills.

To be eligible, students must be: (a) full-time, undergraduate business students in good academic standing, (b) have junior status (55+ earned credit hours); and (c) have three semesters remaining at Xavier.

To gain insights into the type and scope of research topics, students will have access to project abstracts in advance. Downing scholarships are announced each fall and those selected will begin work in the spring semester.

Here are the Downing faculty project abstracts for Spring 2024. Candidates should include their top three choices (in rank order) in their application.
