SORF FUNDING POLICIES

Below is a partial list of the SORF guidelines. Please review the SORF Operating Document for a complete list of guidelines, policies and how-to's related to SORF funding requests before you submit.

General Funding Guidelines

  1. Organizations can only request up to 80% of the total cost of an event, trip, or equipment procurement.
  2. The remaining 20% must be generated by the organization through other means, including:
    Contribution of existing budget dollars
    Fundraising
    Financial co-sponsorship with other organizations
  3. Organizations can only submit one application per eligible activity with a request totaling no more than $5,000.
  4. Organizations are only eligible to receive SORF funding up to three times per fiscal year and may not receive more than $10,000 in total SORF funds throughout a fiscal year (July-June).
  5. SORF funds cannot be donated to another entity (such as a charitable organization or political campaign).
  6. SORF funds cannot be directly used to purchase items that are being resold - funding a fundraiser.
  7. Admission to events can be collected at events funded by SORF.
  8. Clubs are eligible to apply for SORF.  University-Affiliated Organizations, or UAOs, as well as Subordinate Bodies are not.  These types of organizations are well-funded and well-resourced. Additionally, thesegroups do not have funds recaptured at the end of each fiscal year and therefore do not contribute to SORF resources; this includes any organizations within a subordinate body (i.e. NPHC chapters, club sports, hall councils).
