FAFSA Tips

What is the FAFSA? The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a form that is used by the U.S. Department of Education and Xavier University to determine your eligibility for scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study.

The 2022-2023 FAFSA is available starting October 1, 2021. Use the 2022-2023 FAFSA to request aid for Summer 2022, Fall 2022, and Spring 2023.

You don't need to wait. You will use information from your 2020 federal income tax return to complete the 2022-2023 FAFSA. To file the FAFSA form, log in at fafsa.gov or download the myStudentAid mobile app available on the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).

File your FAFSA now

  • Xavier's Federal School Code is 003144.
  • File the FAFSA and complete your application for admission by December 1 to be considered for the best scholarship and grant packages.
  • Use your legal name as it appears on your social security card.
  • Do not leave any items blank, unless indicated to do so. Enter a zero (0) where no income was received.
  • Questions about the FAFSA? Email xuadmit@xavier.edu for assistance.

Special circumstances not reflected on the FAFSA? We may be able to consider a reduction in income due to job loss, reduction of hours for a parent, divorce/separation or death of a parent (after the FAFSA has been submitted). If one of these situations applies, please contact Student Financial Services at xufinaid@xavier.edu or (513) 745-3142.
