FAFSA Tips
What is the FAFSA? The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a form that is used by the U.S. Department of Education and Xavier University to determine your eligibility for scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study eligibility.
The 2025-2026 FAFSA form is available. Use the 2025-2026 FAFSA form to request aid for Summer 2025, Fall 2025, and Spring 2026.
Create your FSA ID. Every FAFSA contributor is required to have an FSA ID to provide consent to have their federal tax information (FTI) transferred from the IRS, have their tax data used to determine the student's eligibility for aid, and allow the U.S. Department of Education (ED) to share their tax information with institutions and state higher education agencies for the administration of federal aid. Visit StudentAid.gov to learn more.
File online. Log in at fafsa.gov to complete the FAFSA form.

Special circumstances not reflected on the FAFSA? We may be able to consider a reduction in income due to job loss, reduction of hours for a parent, divorce/separation or death of a parent (after the FAFSA has been submitted). If one of these situations applies, please contact Student Financial Services at xufinaid@xavier.edu or (513) 745-3142.
