LAUREN
I cover over the text in hot pink and the word appears swollen, like it’s covered in fire ant bites. I imagine that I’m a swarm of ants, biting Jessica Jensen, that the formic acid in my saliva fills her with pain and a burning itch, that she scratches at it until she bleeds, leaving her scarred.
That there is something within me that can cause another immense pain makes me feel all-powerful. I don’t have that capacity, however, and she feels nothing. I know this.
LAUREN 2
A quick primer on time travel:
Time travel isn’t simultaneous. It moves at a ratio of 16:1, a different day every ninety minutes, the sun and moon chasing each other in a game of keep-away.
The world shifts around you, buses blow thru your body like you were a ghost, the sky swirls above like an unbalanced ceiling fan. In time travel, a burned-down building will unburn itself before you and, if you are patient enough, unbuild itself.
Winter takes 6 days, the heat waves of August are a bad afternoon.
Any moment can detach you.
You never know your destination until you get there.
You always feel like vomiting.
But, despite these limitations and frustrations, for me Time Travel is a relief and a respite from an angry world that otherwise spins at a terrifying rate of one-to-one.
LAUREN 3
She pitches forward, hitting the surface.
She sees her locker, the “S” like a fish hook. Water overtakes her. She feels the “S” inside her, piercing flesh, pushing thru skin, attaching itself. She feels herself dragged down, reeled in, forced towards the bottom. Chlorine stings her eyes as she looks out at the distorted world, stars swirling like a whirlpool.
Water rushes into Lauren’s mouth. She gasps, sucking it into her lungs. Her diaphragm staggers, convulses, trying to force it back up and out.

HAMLET
I will tell you why; so shall my anticipation
prevent your discovery, and your secrecy to the king
and queen moult no feather. I have of late--but
wherefore I know not--lost all my mirth, forgone all
custom of exercises; and indeed it goes so heavily
with my disposition that this goodly frame, the
earth, seems to me a sterile promontory, this most
excellent canopy, the air, look you, this brave
o'erhanging firmament, this majestical roof fretted
with golden fire, why, it appears no other thing to
me than a foul and pestilent congregation of vapours.
What a piece of work is a man! how noble in reason!
how infinite in faculty! in form and moving how
express and admirable! in action how like an angel!
in apprehension how like a god! the beauty of the
world! the paragon of animals! And yet, to me,
what is this quintessence of dust? man delights not
me: no, nor woman neither, though by your smiling
you seem to say so.

For SPRING AWAKENING:
- General Auditions will take place on Monday (12/1/25) from 6:30pm-10:30pm and Tuesday (12/2/25) from 8:30pm-10:30pm.
- Prepare a one-minute cut from a musical theatre song of similar style, but not from SPRING AWAKENING.
- Also prepare a one-minute CONTEMPORARY DRAMATIC monologue from a published play or musical.
- You MUST sign up for either the 7:00pm, 8:00pm or 9:00pm DANCE AUDITION on Sunday, 11/30/25.
- Here is a video of the dance call you can prepare ahead of time: https://youtu.be/7ikroEKMmC8
- Please bring three copies of your headshot and resume.
- Please bring sheet music as you will be singing with an accompanist.
- Callbacks will take place on Friday night (12/5/25) as necessary. Emails will be sent to those called back after Tuesday night once all general auditions are concluded.
