Orientation Team Hiring Process
- There will be two separate interview processes for first-time OT applicants and returning applicants.
- Business casual is what is expected for both interviews
- For returner applicants: Interviews will be conducted in a group format that is approximately 45 minutes. There will be up to 24 applicants per interview participating in activities with a small group of 8. Interviews will be evaluated by current core members, graduating orientation team members, and/or Xavier staff members.
- Arrive to Gallagher 210 at least 10 minutes before your interview to check-in
- Mix of Manresa-themed group activities intended to showcase your collaboration skills and knowledge of campus resources, as well as a few personal interview questions
- Example: How have your leadership skills evolved as a result of being a member of the orientation team?
- For first-time applicants: An individual interview will be conducted with current core members, graduating orientation team members, and/or Xavier staff members and will be approximately 15 minutes.
- Arrive to Gallagher 210 at least 10 minutes before your interview time to check-in
- Mix of general interview questions about yourself, skills, experiences, what you hope to gain, etc., as well as a few Manresa scenario questions
- Example: You have a first year who has not shown up to small groups. How would you handle the situation?
- Display a positive attitude towards serving as a member of the Orientation Team.
- Indicate that you have reflected on the role, skills, and/or insight that you would bring.
- Demonstrate areas of growth in previous positions you have held, as well as what you hope to learn in an Orientation Team role.
- For Manresa scenario questions, we hope to observe your thought process, foundational understanding of resources, and ability to be a leader/role model.
- Demonstrate empathy, understanding and input on how to create an inclusive program.
- Provide clear responses and specific examples in questions.
- Desired qualities: kind, reliable, genuine, committed, knowledgeable, respectful, empathetic, resourceful, responsible, and accepting
- Understands and supports the mission of Manresa
- Shows strong teamwork and leadership potential
- Maintains an open mind and positive attitude
- Expresses passion for furthering Xavier's values and creating an inclusive community
- Is in good standing with the University
- Not on University or residence life probation
- Any previous conduct sanctions are complete
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher

Friday 8/7/26 - Sunday 8/9/26: Orientation Team Move-in
Monday 8/10/26 - Wednesday 8/12/26: Orientation Team Training
