Nearly every moment you are online, use social media, or otherwise engage with the internet, an incredibly crafted, almost human independent system works behind the scenes to learn who you are, what you like, where you shop, who you talk to, where you work, where you live, what makes you happy, what has changed about you over time...................................the list truly goes on and on. Smart phones have taken the annoying nature of banner ads online, to full on surveillance marketing (more on this later).

You might be thinking, "I know this! Facebook is listening to us!"
Well, not exactly. Facebook does not actually listen to you, but Facebook very much does track your activity on their site, when using their products, and even across the whole web depending on your settings.
