Micah Garcia
Visiting Professor, Exercise Science
Micah Garcia earned his B.S. in Clinical Exercise Science from Grand Valley State University and his M.S. in Biomechanics from the University of Kentucky. Following his master's degree, he worked as a biomechanist in the Motion Analysis Lab at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center before earning his Ph.D. in Exercise Science from the University of Toledo.
Dr. Garcia's research focuses on biomechanics and sport science, with a particular interest in running biomechanics. His work has examined how manipulating running cadence influences biomechanical, physiological, and perceptual responses in adolescent and adult runners, with the goal of improving performance, reducing injury risk, and informing evidence-based training practices.
Outside the classroom, Dr. Garcia enjoys running, playing tennis, hiking with his wife, daughter, and their two dogs, and cheering on his favorite sports teams.
