ATTR 500: Care and Prevention - This course is designed to provide knowledge related to the prevention and basic care of pathologies common to active populations. Topics include epidemiology, preparticipation screening, environmental conditions, protective devices and procedures, mechanisms of injury, tissue response to injury, and basic documentation procedures.

 

ATTR 501: Athletic Training Skills - In this course students will gain foundational clinical athletic training skills. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to apply immobilization devices, taping, bracing, and ambulatory aids with patients.

 

ATTR 510: Anatomical Kinesiology - In-depth study of human musculoskeletal anatomy, the principles of body movement, and biomechanics as it relates to orthopedic injury.

 

ATTR 521: Lower Extremity Injuries - A comprehensive study of the lower extremity, with attention to the prevention, assessment, evaluation, and recognition of common lower extremity injuries.

 

ATTR 522: Upper Extremity Injuries - A comprehensive study of the upper extremity, with attention to the prevention, assessment, evaluation, and recognition of common upper extremity orthopedic injuries.

 

ATTR 523: Head, Spine and Thorax Injuries - A comprehensive study of the head, spine, and thorax, with attention to the prevention, assessment, evaluation, and recognition of common injuries to these areas.

 

ATTR 531: Therapeutic Interventions 1 - Principles and the implantation of comprehensive treatment plans for injuries commonly sustained by the physically active is discussed and practiced.

 

ATTR 532: Therapeutic Interventions 2 - A continuation of Therapeutic Intervention 1, additional principles, and the implementation of comprehensive treatment plan for injuries commonly sustained by the physically active is discussed and practiced.

 

ATTR 540: Evidence-Based Practice - Develop knowledge and skills to integrate best evidence, clinical experience, and patient-values into athletic training clinical practice. Students will address clinical problems using evidence-based practice.

 

ATTR 541: Research 1 - Students will apply evidence based practice concepts to help solve clinical problems.

 

ATTR 550: Interprofessional Collaboration - This course educates interprofessional teams through an innovative curriculum and shared practices using technology and faculty-created case scenarios, case studies and practicum observations.

 

ATTR 561: Clinical Experience 1 - This course includes a lab and clinical placement. Emphasis is placed on practicing and assessing clinical athletic training foundational skills, with a focus on prevention techniques, pre-participation screening, environmental concerns, protective devices and procedures, documentation, and acute care of pathology in active populations. This course allows the athletic training student the opportunity to apply their clinical athletic training skills with patients while under the supervision of a preceptor.

 

ATTR 562: Clinical Experience 2 - This course is includes a lab and clinical placement. Emphasis is placed on practicing and assessing clinical athletic training skills with a focus on: lower extremity injury assessment, diagnosis, prevention techniques, therapeutic interventions, and interprofessional collaboration. This course allows the athletic training student the opportunity to apply their clinical athletic training skills with patients while under the supervision of a preceptor.

 

ATTR 600: Medical Issues in AT - General medical conditions, pharmacological considerations, and psychosocial issues commonly encountered in physically active populations will be discussed. Special attention will be paid to the prevention, recognition, referral, and treatment of general medical, psychosocial, and life-threatening conditions.

 

ATTR 610: Administrative Concepts in AT - This course emphasizes the administrative duties of the athletic trainer. Emphasis will be placed on leadership, communication, legal issues, as well as human resource, budget facility, and event management. The student will prepare a professional portfolio and practice interview technique and etiquette.

 

ATTR 633: Therapeutic Interventions 3 - A continuation of Therapeutic Intervention 2, additional principles and the implantation of a comprehensive treatment plan for injuries commonly sustained by the physically active is discussed and practiced.

 

ATTR 642: Research 2 - Students will apply evidence-based practice concepts to help solve clinical problems.

 

ATTR 663: Clinical Experience 3 - This course is includes a lab and clinical placement. Emphasis is placed on practicing and assessing clinical athletic training skills, with a focus on: upper extremity injury assessment, diagnosis, prevention techniques, and therapeutic interventions, as well as assessment, diagnosis and recognition of injuries common to the head, spine, and thorax in the physically active population. This course allows the athletic training student the opportunity to apply their clinical athletic training skills with patients while under the supervision of a preceptor.

 

ATTR 650: Contemporary Issues in AT - The course is designed as a culminating experience that presents an overview of the contemporary considerations necessary for students to understand in order to enter the field of Athletic Training. Continued care will also be given to resume writing and interviewing skills.

 

ATTR 664: Clinical Experience 4 - This course includes a lab and clinical placement. Emphasis is placed on a student's autonomy to practice athletic training and the assessment of clinical athletic training skills with a focus on: general medical issues, pharmacology, and athletic training administrative duties. This course allows the athletic training student the opportunity to apply their clinical athletic training skills with patients while under the supervision of a preceptor.
