Xavier in Spain Summer Program

Courses in Spanish language, culture, theological perspectives, historical perspectives, and creative perspectives.

The 2024 Xavier Summer Program in Spain will offer three- or six-week residential experiences based in Comillas, a historic village on the rugged northern coast in the province of Cantabria. Students will be able to earn up to twelve credits with courses in Spanish language, Spanish culture, Theology, Art, and International Business. Courses offered will fulfill requirements in the Xavier Spanish major or minor or in the university core curriculum, as applicable.

In addition to classes, program activities will include various excursions. In past years, these have included a stay in Madrid on arrival and departure, local music festivals, visits to village monuments, the Altamira Museum of prehistoric cave paintings, the medieval village of Santillana del Mar, the Jesuit foundational sites of Loyola and Javier, and hikes through the mountains or along a segment of the Camino de Santiago.
