Program Costs

Semester Programs

Xavier-Sponsored Semester Programs and Direct Exchange Programs

Students participating in a Xavier-approved semester program will pay tuition directly to Xavier, and if applicable the additional level cost. Xavier scholarships, Federal aid, and outside scholarships will apply to semester study abroad experiences.

Xavier study abroad programs are placed into levels. Therefore based on the program, students will be charged the XU tuition rate and the price of the level. Levels may be found on the Cost & Scholarships page of the Xavier application.

All students will be responsible for room and board costs due to the variability of options and preferences. Depending on program, accommodations may be billed through Xavier or through the program/location directly.

Try our interactive Study Abroad Budget Worksheet to estimate the cost of your semester program.

*The levels listed below are for the 2023-2024 Academic Year. The levels will stay the same in 2024-2025.

Faculty-led and Short-term Programs

Students participating in a Xavier faculty-led program will pay all program fees directly to Xavier. If eligible, federal financial aid is sometimes portable. Because these programs are often summer courses, students must check with XU Office of Student Financial Services for specific information and eligibility. Institutional aid is not portable. CISI international insurance is included.

Students participating in a short-term program through an approved partner program will pay all program fees directly to the program. If eligible, federal financial aid is sometimes portable. If the program does not include adequate international insurance, students are required to purchase Xavier's insurance for international activity during the pre-departure phase.

Cancellation, Withdraw and Refund Procedures

Upon committing to a study abroad program, the study abroad application fee and deposit are non-refundable. Students may only withdraw from a study abroad program by submitting the withdrawal notice in writing via email to the Center for International Education. These email notifications must be sent to studyabroad@xavier.edu. A telephone call or in-person office visit is not sufficient notification of withdrawal. Notification must be written by the student.
