Don’t yet have a Lyft account? Download the app and create an account to get started.
Rider Safety Tips
- Verify your ride. Once you have requested a ride through the Lyft app, you can view the driver’s photo, license plate number, and the make, model and color of the car. When your ride arrives, make sure the information in the app matches the arriving vehicle. Never take a ride you did not request, or get into a car that doesn’t match the details provided by the Lyft app.
- Share your location and route with a friend or loved one from within the Lyft app so they can follow your ride in real-time.
- Follow the Lyft vehicle on GPS via the app.
- Ask the driver to say who they are picking up.
- Learn more about Lyft's rider safety features.

Xavier’s Lyft Pass Program offers eligible students discounted rides that start or stop within .5 miles of campus, from 9 pm to 3 am on most Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights during the academic year. Xavier will contribute $2 per ride, and the remainder will be paid by the rider.
Safety is our top priority. Xavier's Lyft Pass Program is designed to offer discounted rides to be used at the student's discretion between 9 p. and 3 am on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights (and early Sunday mornings). All users should adhere to the following safety tips:
- Follow the Lyft vehicle on GPS via the app.
- Visually confirm vehicle info/description matches information in the Lyft app (license plate, model, etc.).
- Match the color. Most Lyft drivers have a dashboard display that acts as a beacon, changing color to match the rider’s app and help identify their Lyft more easily.
- Ask the driver to say who they are picking up.
- If you feel unsafe, leave the area and contact law enforcement.
- Lyft offers additional safety information online.
Students can book a ride through a web browser on their computer or smart device (learn how).
Your Lyft email must match your official University directory email address. All eligible students receive an email to their Xavier email address. Click on the activation link in the email to enroll in the program.
If you missed your invitation email or can’t find it, you can follow the steps below to sign up for the Xavier Lyft Pass Program:
- Open the Lyft app, sign into your account, and type the code WEEKENDSOCIAL in the Lyft Pass section of the app’s Payment tab.
- After typing in the code, the app will prompt you to enter your Xavier email address.
- Lyft will then verify your eligibility to participate in the program and send you an invitation email with a link to add the program discount to your app.
Discounts are not transferable. However, an enrolled student can opt-in and book a ride for themselves and another person.
Xavier University does not pay any cancellation fees. See Lyft’s cancellation terms.
Students must be currently enrolled undergraduate students. Access to the program may be revoked at any time, at the sole discretion of the university, due to violations of law, the Code of Student Conduct, or other university policies, and/or Lyft’s Terms of Service.
Please e-mail shuttle@xavier.edu if you encounter issues enrolling in the program.
