No GMAT or GRE required to apply

MBA programs at Xavier University no longer require the GMAT or GRE test scores of applicants.

Admission

Admission to Xavier’s full-time MBA program is rolling, which allows you to begin your graduate studies throughout the academic year. While there is no formal application deadline, the following dates are recommended to ensure timely processing of your application materials and course registration:

  • Fall - Aug. 1
  • Spring - Dec. 1

To be considered for admission into the MBA program, you must submit the following materials:

  • Completed application.
  • Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended, sent directly from the institution; electronic transcripts are preferred.
  • A current résumé documenting work experience.
  • Two letters of recommendation from academic or professional sources; recommender names/emails can be uploaded to the application, allowing the recommendation form to be sent to them by email.
  • A personal statement regarding the motivation and goals that have prompted your application to the full-time MBA program.
  • A personal interview.

You are considered for admission into the program once all application materials have been received.

If you are an international student, the full-time MBA office must receive all completed applications and supplementary materials by January 1. To learn more about the international student application process, please contact hellkampal@xavier.edu.

Along with the core application materials, international students must also submit the following supplemental materials:

  • Official TOEFL scores (internet-based score requirements: 80 total, minimum of 20 in each section).
  • Official course by course WES evaluation (or other NACES member).
  • If applicable: Change of School Report.

For students requesting support from Xavier University for an F-1 student visa, students must submit the following documents:

  • A copy of the information page of your passport.
  • Sponsor Financial Statement Form - An original bank statement showing available funds of at least $34,155.00.
  • Tuition and Fees (required for the Form I-20) - Scanned/emailed, faxed or photocopied documents sent in the mail will not be accepted.

If you are currently enrolled as a student in F-1 status at an institution of higher education in the United States, please submit the SEVIS Record Transfer Form.

If you are in the United States in a different visa category and want to change to F-1 status, please contact the Center for International Education for more information.

International applicants who have yet to submit a complete application (see above for required documents) will not be granted an I-2 by the deadline.

Curriculum

In our full-time master’s in business administration program, you enroll in a carefully planned course schedule to maximize your time at Xavier. During the fall and spring terms, you take five classes per semester and complete your degree in the summer term, enrolling in three to four classes

Altogether, the total number of credit hours required to complete the MBA program varies from a minimum of 39 hours (all foundation skills waived with a nine-credit-hour concentration) to a maximum of 48 hours (all foundation skills and a 12-credit-hour concentration in Finance).

The MBA curriculum provides a thorough exploration of business fundamentals in accounting, marketing, operations, analytics and ethics, ensuring you receive comprehensive training. These courses include hands-on learning with “clients” to anchor classroom concepts in applied experience.

To round out your education, you can select your self-exploration electives and develop essential leadership skills like communication, collaboration and strategy. This promotes a learning environment that encourages your curiosity and helps you gain the skills needed to tackle today’s issues with tomorrow’s solutions.

Develops students' ability to integrate information from the foundation skills and core courses. The capstone course is taken during the final semester, and all other required courses must be completed prior. Students can choose from: BUAD 690 - Corporate Governance (3) BUAD 691 - Global Strategic Thinking (3) BUAD 694 - Bond Portfolio Management (3)

Sample Courses

  • BLAW 550 - Business Law and Ethics - The course revolves around an organization's core values (e.g., leadership, integrity, honesty, etc.). It explores the relationship between ethics and law by discussing legal concepts (e.g., compliance, governance, discrimination, products and liability) and then analyzing the ethical implications of these same topics. The class format includes lectures, case analyses, discussions using the Socratic method and groups, and student team projects. Students take weekly quizzes, conduct research, and write a paper exploring an approved business legal and ethics topic they select.
  • ECON 550 - Managerial Economics - Managerial economics analyzes consumer and firm behavior to provide a strong theoretical understanding of how consumers make decisions and how firms maximize profit. With this foundation, the second part of the course examines how firms are organized and their behavior in various market situations. The course concludes with an analysis of how to make effective decisions regarding hiring, managing and motivating workers.
  • FINC 550 - Fundamentals of Finance - Fundamentals of Finance helps students understand the basic principles and techniques used in the financial management of a business. The purpose of this course is to introduce the student to the fundamentals of finance, with special emphasis on financial decisions within the context of the corporation.
  • BUAD 550 - International Business - This course seeks to expand students’ perspectives by examining issues in international business, including globalization and differences in political and economic systems. Students also explore cultural differences across countries, comparative advantage and trade policy, exchange rates, international capital markets and global finance, strategy and regional economic integration agreements.

Tuition and Fees

Xavier’s full-time MBA program costs $38,000, including fees and costs of the global immersion (minus airfare).
