Faculty Spotlight: Karen Eutsler
February 9, 2026
There’s something wonderfully unpredictable about 21-year-old wisdom. When Karen Eutsler was that age, she left her education degree after deciding teachers “don’t make any money.” Nearly two decades later, she’s spent nineteen years teaching marketing at Xavier University—helping students trade paper clips for cars, cold-call prospects for Cincinnati Reds tickets and discover that marketing is more than a career. It’s a passion.
Eutsler first built a career in sales, using the communication skills she developed as an education major. While her husband pursued an MBA at Xavier, she decided to earn one herself. A sales class taught by Ginger Rothhouse revealed a new possibility: teaching business. After graduating with an MBA in 2006, she began teaching Professional Selling as an adjunct while working in corporate sales.
A decade later, Eutsler realized her favorite day each week was the one she spent teaching. She joined Xavier full time in 2016 and now focuses on hands-on learning that prepares students for real careers.
