Smooth Transitions (ST) is a competitive first-year student summer pre-orientation and year-long peer mentoring program that helps underrepresented domestic students make the transition to college. Students will be informed about important campus academic and social well-being resources to ensure their retention and ability to thrive at Xavier University. Our definition of underrepresented domestic students includes first-generation, low-income students of any racial background, multi-racial students, and students of color.
- To increase the recruitment, retention and graduation of students of color and first generation college students.
- To build up students social and cultural capital so that they are aware of and know how to access valuable campus resources (i.e. Psych Services, TRiO, Center for Career Development, Writing Center) available at Xavier University.
- To connect first year students with student, faculty, staff, and alumni mentors.
- To educate students on issues of diversity, inclusion, and social justice.
If you are a graduating high school senior or a parent of a graduating high school senior interested in this program please register through the Road to Xavier website. There are only 60 spots available.
