Mini-Vacations by the Watercolor Guild of Loveland

Xavier University and the Department of Art are pleased to present a special summer exhibition Mini Vacations by the Watercolor Guild of Loveland, June 15-August 15, 2023, in the Third Floor Art Space, Gallagher Student Center located at 3815 St. Francis Xavier Way, Cincinnati, OH 45207.

The Watercolor Guild of Loveland began six years ago with five or so kitchen table painters, ranging from beginner to intermediate students. The group met on Saturday mornings with their instructor Terry Voorhees, B.A. Over the following six years, the kitchen table became a studio, the group became a guild and has grown in numbers as well as expertise. This exhibition by nineteen local artists features landscapes, florals, animals, and abstracts.

Their motto is “Serotonin Saturday,” a phrase coined by one of the members because she claims it’s the best day of the week! Serotonin and dopamine are chemicals that are released in our brain when we are creative, and they are responsible for happiness - a “mini vacation” for the heart, mind, and soul. Each piece touches our senses in some manner with a memory, an emotion, or an inspiring composition.

Please join the Watercolor Guild of Loveland, family, and friends for an artists’ reception on Friday, July 21, 2:00-4:00pm, 3rd Floor, Gallagher Student Center.
