Pre-Law Minor

Pre-Law is a dynamic, interdisciplinary field that critically examines the role of law in theory and practice. Foundational coursework will support the required competencies necessary for law students and lawyers, as well as explore the legal system as a resource for responding to and addressing a range of unspecified social issues, problems, and conflicts between civil society, government and the private sector. Pre-Law provides a foundation for understanding the role of the legal system and lawmakers as actors in advancing societal change.

Using Xavier’s Core as a foundation, Pre-Law also provides a continuum of curricular and co-curricular experiences that support a student’s inquiry, immersion and discernment of law as a vocation.
