Perplexity

IMPORTANT: Please read our GenAI Best Practices page before using this generative AI tool with course work.

Perplexity is an AI-powered search and research tool that helps you find, summarize, and explore information from credible sources. It combines conversational AI with real-time web results, allowing you to ask questions and receive answers with cited sources.

It is especially useful for research, fact-checking, and staying current, since it pulls from up-to-date information and shows where answers come from. Perplexity supports workflows like summarizing articles, comparing sources, and refining searches through follow-up questions.

At Xavier, faculty can use Perplexity to quickly review literature, gather sources for course materials, and model research strategies for students. It can also help generate summaries, identify key themes across sources, and support evidence-based discussions.

Perplexity works best as a research assistant. It helps you locate and synthesize information efficiently, but sources should still be reviewed and evaluated for accuracy and relevance before use.
