Frequently Asked Questions

Housing/Roommate:

Operations for housing and roommate selection can be found on the Housing Self Service Portal. There are documents of important dates for housing found on the Office of Residence Life page

  • When/where can I choose my roommate?
    • On the student’s Road to Xavier, there is a link to the housing self-service. Important dates include roommate pair formation from Thursday May 1 through Tuesday June 10, 2025, housing applications due Monday June 9, 2025, and room selection times announced Wednesday June 18, 2025. Honors and student athletes will receive their housing a week prior.
  • Where do I choose my housing selection?
    • Housing selection will be in the housing self service portal where roommate selection was finalized. Students roommate pairs are to have an individual log in on their assigned time and choose a room.
  • Can I change my dorm/roommate selection?
    • Once a student/pair has chosen their housing and roommate(s), there are to be no changes allowed until after move-in. Students are to meet with their hallway RA and make new arrangements after the first couple weeks of classes.
  • What should I bring?
    • There are a lot of websites with information about how to pack for college and what to bring. Although these websites all have good suggestions, there is a specific Xavier University packing list that has an outline of what to bring and what not to bring based on our Student Handbook. See Xavier's packing list!

Move-In

  • How do I sign up for a move-in time? And what date do the slots open?
    • Sign up for move-in times can be found in the housing self service portal beginning July 7, 2025. Once logged in, click into assignments and there will be a drop down menu where a student can select a time.
  • How do I make sure to complete the One Pass process?
    • The One Pass is the digital student ID card. By downloading the Transact eAccounts, a student can add their ID to their digital wallet. Once this is on your phone, you will have accesss to your dorm, room, and use the card to pay with campus dining and stores.
  • Is there any possibility of early move-in? Are there alternative housing options?
    • Unfortunately, the time slots shown on Housing Self-Service are the only available move it times. If a move in slot is desired, it is important to be attentive of when move-in selection is to select a time slot before it fills.
  • Can I change my move-in time?
    • Once move in time is selected, changing that is not available. This is to control the diffusion of traffic going in and out of campus. It is encouraged you come at the selected time.
