Electrical Curtailment - 2019

On Thursday afternoon, August 9, 2019, Xavier University participated in a two-hour audit of its ability to curtail electricity usage.  The audit was part of a commitment to reduce the University's electrical load during extreme conditions and we accomplished this goal by cutting back our electric consumption by two-thirds.  This achievement qualifies Xavier for a rebate on its electric costs and positions the University to better support an electrical reduction in the event of an emergency.

More information about the Demand Response Program can be viewed by clicking on this link. For test results of Xavier's electrical consumption during the demand response test, please click on this link which shows a graph of the electrical performance during the curtailment.

The team from Physical Plant would like to personally thank everyone that participated by turning off non-essential equipment and lighting during the test period.
