Demand Response Program

Demand Response Electricity Audit

On Wednesday, August 5, 2020, from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m., Xavier is participating in an audit of its ability to curtail electricity usage to fulfill a commitment to reduce our electrical load when extreme conditions in the region require it. For a detailed explanation, view the Demand Response program.  Air conditioning and cooling equipment will be turned beginning at 1:00 p.m.  The system will be turned back on at 4:00 p.m. but the buildings will not return to their normal temperature until closer to 5:00 p.m. Everyone on campus is asked to help with these conservation efforts by turning off any non-essential equipment and lighting. Please contact Larry Prues, Associate Director of Physical Plant, at pruesl@xavier.edu if you have any questions.

Electricity curtailment

Every summer Xavier participates in a statewide test for electricity curtailment. In the past, Xavier has exceeded the required 50-percent reduction of its electricity demand with an average 61 percent reduction. Thanks to everyone who helped achieve this goal as it helps determine future payments.
