Coalition of Occupational Therapy Advocates for Diversity (COTAD)
October 31, 2025
Coalition of Occupational Therapy Advocates for Diversity (COTAD) is a national network of OT practitioners, students, and educators committed to justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, and anti-oppression. Xavier University has a student-led chapter that works to build community, promote JEDI (justice, equity, diversity, inclusion) in occupational therapy and healthcare, and develop leadership, advocacy, and cultural competence through events and collaboration. Over the past two semesters, Xavier’s chapters has hosted a Black History Month discussion featuring a TED Talk, celebrated Women’s History Month, facilitated our Planting Seeds of Diversity workshop, and welcomed a guest speaker to discuss the conflict in the Gaza Strip. Looking ahead, we plan to host discussions on culturally inclusive ADL and IADL interventions, celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month, and recognize Veterans Day during our monthly club meetings.
