Periodicals

Description

Periodicals develops and maintains the journal collection within the parameters of each academic discipline and within the constraints of the library's budget. Periodicals is committed to maintaining a vital collection by carefully reviewing each year the current subscriptions as well as new requests.

Access

Online access to journals the library owns is available through XPLORE, the library's online catalog. Access to many of the articles within those journals is available through the library's research databases.

Library holdings for print journals can be determined by searching XPLORE by the journal's title. Some titles have multiple formats, including electronic format. Library holdings for electronic journals can be determined by searching JOURNALS @ XU by the journal's title.

Location

Journals in print format may be loose, bound, or boxed. The most recent 10 years of the journal collection is located on the second floor of the McDonald Building, with the current year's journals preceding the bound volumes. Journals older than 10 years are located in the library annex.

Back issues of selected titles are in microform format. The microform collection is located in the library annex and can be request using Illiad (interlibrary loan) .

The periodicals office is located on the second floor of McDonald Building, Room 208.

Circulation

The journal collection is non-circulating, except to faculty. The faculty loan period for journals is 2 weeks.

Hours

Periodicals services are available from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday on those days that the library is open.
