Vision

The University Library nurtures intellectual exploration, supports diverse learning needs, and empowers our community to flourish in an inclusive and transformative academic environment. We seek to inspire curiosity and enrich the educational journey of the individuals we are called to serve.

Mission

As an essential partner in carrying out the mission of Xavier University, the University Library and its staff:  

• Steward rich and diverse collections by acquiring, organizing, providing, and preserving information assets 
• Enhance student success by providing resources that support teaching, learning, and discovery  
• Provide equitable access to services and spaces for our diverse community within a culture of belonging 
• Foster critical thinking and active problem-solving to facilitate education and scholarship 
• Encourage civic discourse through delivery of information literacy competencies
