About Our Departments
Information Technologies Infrastructure
The IT Infrastructure department manages the maintenance, deployment, and operational security of our Xavier's servers, networks, and desktop environments. Specifically, the server team supports both on-premises infrastructure, storage, and the Microsoft 365 environment, while the networking team handles connectivity for all wired, wireless, and voice devices. Finally, the desktop infrastructure team manages endpoint security, device imaging, software deployment, and inventory asset management.
Project Management Office
The Xavier Information Technologies Product and Project Management Office (PPMO) is dedicated to assisting the University throughout the various phases of the project lifecycle. Using best-practice project and product management methodologies, the PPMO works with departments across the University from project inception to implementation on initiatives of all sizes. In addition to supporting enterprise platforms such as Workday and Data Modernization initiatives, the PPMO partners with teams across campus to help deliver effective technology solutions.
Service Desk
Classroom Tech
The Classroom Technology team supports the design, operation, and ongoing improvement of technology-enabled teaching and learning spaces across campus. The team manages classroom audiovisual systems, instructional technologies, and event support while partnering with faculty, staff, and campus departments to ensure reliable and accessible learning environments. Through proactive maintenance, responsive support, and thoughtful technology planning, the team helps create engaging classroom experiences that support teaching, collaboration, and student success.
Information Security
The Information Security team protects Xavier’s people, data, systems, and technology resources from cyber threats. The team manages security operations, threat detection and response, vulnerability and risk management, security awareness, policy and governance, incident response, and third-party security assessments across the University. By partnering with departments throughout campus, the team works to reduce risk, strengthen resilience, promote responsible technology use, and support Xavier’s mission through secure and reliable digital services.
Artificial Intelligence
IT's artificial intelligence efforts focus on exploring and adopting AI technologies in ways that are innovative, responsible, and aligned with the University’s mission. Working with partners across campus, this work supports AI governance, education, experimentation, and the evaluation of emerging tools and use cases. The goal is to promote AI literacy, protect University data, encourage ethical and effective use, and identify opportunities where artificial intelligence can enhance teaching, learning, research, operations, and decision-making.
