    The program begins with a panel discussion, “Formation in an AI Mediated World: Leading through Development of Technological Humility,” featuring faculty from computer science, psychology, and philosophy

    AI in Action: Tools to Support Faculty > 10:00 - 10:40 in the Stinson Faculty Lounge (CLC 317)
    This hands-on workshop introduces faculty to AI-powered tools designed to support faculty in their work. Participants will see live demonstrations of practical use cases, learn how to apply recommendations from each tool, and have dedicated time to explore the tools firsthand with support from the Instructional Design and Technology (IDT) team. Whether you are brand new to AI or simply curious about how it can fit into your work, this workshop offers a guided, low-pressure space to discover how these tools can save time and enhance the support you provide to students.
     
    By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

    1. Identify AI tools available to support faculty work.
    2. Describe practical use cases for each AI tool within their faculty role.
    3. Apply prompting strategies to generate useful, relevant outputs.
    4. Evaluate AI-generated recommendations and determine how to responsibly incorporate them into their practice.

  2. Building Ignatian Aligned Courses in Canvas Workshop - Wednesday, April 15th from 12:00 - 1:00 on Microsoft Teams

    How do we move from a “content repository” in Canvas to a mission-aligned learning environment that reflects the values of Jesuit education? In this workshop, faculty will explore how best practices in course building can do just that. This session emphasizes why we structure courses the way we do, aligning design decisions with Jesuit values and evidence-based pedagogy. This workshop is ideal for faculty developing new courses, revising existing ones and teaching online, hybrid, or face-to-face courses supported by Canvas.  

    By the end of this workshop, faculty will be able to:  

    1. Design a clear and organized module layout in Canvas that supports student success 
    2. Describe different types of learning materials and how to evaluate them 
    3. Add a variety of learning materials to Canvas 
    4. Identify different types of assessments and how to evaluate them 
    5. Create assessments in Canvas 
    6. Navigate the Assignments tab in Canvas to view, organize, and manage course assessments

  • Enhancing Online Instructor Presence Workshop - Wednesday, February 18th from 12:00 - 1:00pm on Microsoft Teams

    Enhancing Online Instructor Presence is a practical workshop for helping faculty create engaging, supportive, and effective online learning experiences. Online courses succeed when students feel connected to the instructor, to one another, and to the learning itself. This interactive workshop introduces faculty to the concept of online instructor presence and offers practical, manageable strategies for strengthening teaching, social, and cognitive presence in online courses.

    Grounded in research on student engagement and success, the session focuses on small, high-impact practices that help students feel supported and motivated without significantly increasing faculty workload. Participants will explore concrete techniques for clarifying expectations, communicating purposefully, and fostering meaningful interaction throughout the course.

    By the end of this workshop, faculty will be able to:

    1. Describe online instructor presence and the benefits of enhancing it
    2. Identify techniques and best practices for enhancing online instructor presence
    3. Describe how techniques for enhancing online instructor presence can be applied in their courses

  • Spring 2026 Pedagogy & Tech Boot Camp - Friday, January 9th from 9:00 - 4:00 on Microsoft Teams

    Get ready for spring teaching at Pedagogy & Tech Boot Camp. Choose from a variety of interactive sessions and one-on-one consultations to help you with last-minute upgrades and fixes for your courses, including sessions on using AI in the classroom and strategic sessions for implementing the Persistence Project activities in your fall class.

  • Canvas Drop-In Support from Instructional Design & Technology (1/12 - 1/16)

    In-person support will be available on Monday 1/12, Wednesday 1/14, & Friday 1/16 in CLC 323 from 8:30am - 10:00am. Virtual support (via Teams) will be available on Tuesday 1/13, & Thursday 1/15 from 12:00pm - 1:30pm.
