Sorority & Fraternity Life Standards of Xcellence
Launching Spring 2027
The Xavier University Sorority & Fraternity Life Standards of Xcellence Program establishes clear expectations for recognized organizations and serves as a framework for chapter success. Grounded in Xavier's Jesuit values, the program encourages organizations to demonstrate leadership, service, community engagement, personal growth, and accountability.
Through completion of required trainings, administrative responsibilities, and mission-driven benchmarks, chapters demonstrate their commitment to the values of Xavier University and the positive impact sorority and fraternity life can have on our campus community.
The Standards of Xcellence program is built upon the five Jesuit principles:
Service Rooted in Justice and Love
Organizations demonstrate a commitment to serving others through community engagement, philanthropy, and fundraising initiatives that support causes larger than themselves.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 service hours per member each semester
- Host at least one fundraising event each academic year
- Host at least one philanthropic event each semester
Solidarity & Kinship
Organizations cultivate belonging and strengthen relationships across the fraternity and sorority community while building bridges with the broader Xavier community.
Requirements:
- Two (2) collaborative programs with Greek organizations annually
- One (1) within the organization's governing council
- One (1) outside the organization's governing council
- Attendance at Community Bid Day
- Attendance at one (1) NPHC or UGC new member presentation
- Chapter delegate attendance at all council meetings
- Bonus recognition for collaborations with non-Greek organizations
Magis
Organizations pursue excellence through continuous learning, education, and personal development.
Requirements:
- Host two educational programs annually with at least 80% chapter attendance
- One (1) educational program must focus specifically on a Xavier University resource, initiative, or community need
- Each member is required to maintain a 2.7 minimum GPA to remain active in their respective organization
Reflection & Discernment
Organizations engage in intentional reflection to improve future programming and strengthen chapter operations.
Requirements:
- Submit reflection reports following service, philanthropy, and educational programs
- Participate in monthly President meetings with the Assistant Director for Sorority & Fraternity Life
- Complete all required administrative submissions
Cura Personalis
Organizations demonstrate care for the whole person through leadership development, safety education, risk management, academic success, and member well-being.
Requirements:
- New Member Education Training
- Risk Management Training
- Academic/Scholarship Chair Training
- Anti-Hazing Training
- Bystander Intervention Training
