Sorority & Fraternity Life at Xavier University
About Sorority & Fraternity Life

Sorority and Fraternity Life at Xavier University provides students with opportunities to develop as leaders, scholars, servants, and engaged members of their communities. Through lifelong friendships, academic support, service initiatives, philanthropic efforts, and leadership experiences, members are encouraged to grow both personally and professionally while contributing positively to the Xavier community.
The sorority and fraternity experience has a long tradition in higher education, rooted in the ideals of scholarship, leadership, service, and belonging. At Xavier, these organizations serve as communities where students can build meaningful relationships, develop leadership skills, and deepen their commitment to serving others.
Membership in a sorority or fraternity is not separate from the Xavier experience. Rather, it is an extension of the University's Jesuit, Catholic mission and values. Sorority and fraternity members are challenged to live out those values through reflection, service, academic excellence, and care for others.
Living Xavier's Jesuit Values
Reflection calls members to consider their experiences, actions, and responsibilities within their organizations and communities. Through leadership development, mentoring relationships, and personal growth opportunities, students are encouraged to continually reflect on who they are and who they aspire to become.
Discernment encourages thoughtful decision-making and ethical leadership. Sorority and fraternity members are challenged to act with integrity, make values-based decisions, and contribute positively to their chapters, the University, and society.
Solidarity and Kinship are at the heart of sorority and fraternity membership. These organizations foster a sense of belonging and create communities where members support one another, celebrate differences, and build meaningful relationships across campus and beyond.
Service Rooted in Justice and Love is reflected through community service, philanthropy, advocacy, and engagement with local and global communities. Members are encouraged to use their talents and resources to make a positive impact in the lives of others.
Cura Personalis, or care for the whole person, is demonstrated through the support networks found within fraternities and sororities. Members are called to recognize the dignity, uniqueness, and value of every individual while promoting personal well-being and academic success.
Magis challenges students to seek the greater good in all they do. Sorority and fraternity members strive to embody excellence, pursue meaningful change, and contribute to a stronger campus and community through their leadership and service.
