The Matthew McCormick Cincinnati Investment Symposium and Economic Outlook

The Annual Matthew McCormick Cincinnati Investment Symposium and Economic Outlook will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024, from 8-10 a.m. in the James and Caroline Duff Banquet Room at the Cintas Center. The Williams College of Business at Xavier University has engaged Beacon Economics, LLC to provide a report including forecasts of major economic indicators covering the State of Ohio and the Cincinnati Metropolitan Area. The founder of Beacon, Christopher Thornberg, Ph.D., will share the results of the research with the audience, and all participants will take home a complimentary copy of the report.

Microsoft Excel Workshops

Looking for an Excel course for beginners to experts? This course has something for everyone, covering beginner, intermediate and advanced lessons in Excel. Workshops are taught by the Fifth Third Trading Center staff and will be held on the following dates:

Introduction to S&P Capital IQ

This is a one-hour workshop designed to teach you the basics of navigating through S&P Capital IQ. An overview of the capabilities of the software will be provided. Capital IQ is a web and Excel based research database. The software provides deep research capabilities with robust analytics that are more powerful than the Google or Yahoo search engines. Workshops do NOT require registration to attend. Workshops are taught by the Fifth Third Trading Center staff and will be held on the following dates:

This is a one-hour workshop designed to teach you the basics of navigating through Bloomberg. An overview of the capabilities of the software will be provided. Bloomberg Training and Certification

You can become proficient on the Bloomberg terminal through a combination of e-learning and hands-on training in the lab. The e-learning component, Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC), is available on the Bloomberg terminal. Hands-on training is through workshops periodically offered in the Fifth Third Trading Center.

Learning to Use the Bloomberg

Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC)

BMC is an eight-hour, self-paced e-learning course that introduces students to important financial markets concepts while demonstrating numerous Bloomberg functions. BMC consist of four interactive video modules – Economics, Currencies, Fixed Income, and Equities. The modules introduce you to important functions on the Bloomberg terminal. Bloomberg provides a certificate of completion, a valuable addition to your resume, if you complete all four modules. You access BMC by logging onto the Bloomberg terminal with a personal login, typing BMCon the command line, and registering for the course.

 

FAQs

Where do I complete BMC?

BMC can be completed on any of the Bloomberg terminals located in the Fifth Third Trading Center (SMH 106 and SMH 101).

Is there a charge for BMC?

There is no charge if the BMC is completed on the Bloomberg terminal.

What is the procedure for receiving acknowledgment of BMC Certification?

Once you have completed all Bloomberg Market Concepts Certification exams, use the appropriate website link to access a PDF file containing your BMC Certificate.
