Meeting Agenda & Notes

Friday, April 17th

10:00 am to 12:00 p.m. Microsoft Teams

1. Motion to begin the meeting – Brett Burton made a motion to officially begin the meeting. Second, Ted Zigler.

2. 2. Welcome and Introductions – attendees shared a bit about their career path and their

current position.

5. Membership Form - Needs updated

      Ted Zigler, Belinda Gimbert, and Kathy Winterman will collaborate to revise the form.

6. Treasurer’s Report – Balance reported by Ted Zigler -  $14, 709

              Motion to accept -  Kathy Winterman

               Second – Brittiani McNeill

7. Website Discussion – Discussion occurred around the future of our website. It had previously been hosted under one of our member institutions and is now very outdated. Brett had researched details of our working with ICPEL to sponsor our website and shared various details. The annual cost is $800.   After discussion we voted to join ICPEL.  Brett Burton will inform ICPEL and will oversee the ongoing details for what is needed.

8. Journal- Need one additional co-editor to join Marci Shepard - Marci Shared her thinking regarding the process for reviving the journal.  Her ideas were based upon an examination of where our journal had been, its guidelines, its challenges, and successes, and why it is needed. She reviewed from the start of the journal in 2014 until the mot recent edition in 2022, noting that there were years that had no journal produced.    She created a reasonable timeline for the work to be accomplished.  Beginning with one edition per year. Nichole Lambright indicated she would  like to serve with Marci as a co-editor. Also, Tanya Moore w/ Franklin University will serve as third editor. OCPEA members and colleagues will be participants in the journal process by reading and assessing of submitted articles,  It was a very productive  discussion providing hope that the journal is still alive.

9. Other information:

• ODEW state test for leadership will change its number starting in 2027: 015 will become the 115Study Guide

• Generative Artificial Intelligence Philosophy – Brett shared in the chat, the philosophy of the institution for others to see.

• OCPEA By-Laws Review –tabled until a future meeting

• ODEW- Superintendent Standards – no one had an update.

• Fall 2026 Conference @ OCTEO Conference October 8th and 9th- submission proposals due end of April 2026.

10. New Business – There was no further business

OCPEA's membership consists of professors, adjunct professors, graduate students, retired professors, and supporters of school administration preparation programs across Ohio. In July 2005, OCPEA became officially affiliated with the National Council of Professors of Educational Administration (NCPEA), now the International Council of Professors of Educational Leadership (ICPEL).
