Campus Pride Index

Since 2007, the Campus Pride Index (CPI) has been the premier LGBTQ national benchmarking tool for colleges and universities to create safer, more inclusive campus communities. The free online tool allows prospective students, families/parents and those interested in higher education to search a database of LGBTQ-friendly campuses who have come out to improve the academic experiences and quality of campus life.

In 2019, Xavier completed its inaugural Campus Pride Index, receiving 3 of the 5 possible stars. In the summer of 2021, we updated and resubmitted out responses and renewed our score of 3/5. This score is a result of our responses to 260+ questions that reviewed LGBTQ+ policies on campus with regard to students, staff, and faculty across 8 key areas:

  1. Policy Inclusion
  2. Support & Institutional Commitment
  3. Academic Life
  4. Student Life
  5. Housing & Residence Life
  6. Campus Safety
  7. Counseling & Health
  8. Recruitment & Retention

By completing our inaugural Campus Pride Index we are better able to gauge the inclusion of LGBTQ+ campus-wide policies for current and prospective students, staff, and faculty. This allows stakeholders across campus to see areas of successful inclusion as well as areas we can work to create more inclusive practices and policies. To learn more about our score and see the breakdown of questions and responses, check out or full Campus Pride Index page! For more information regarding CPI, contact cdi@xavier.edu.
