Mr. Andrew Berghausen, J.D.

Adjunct Professor, Department of Criminal Justice

Andrew has been an Adjunct Instructor of Criminal Justice at Xavier since 2019 and currently teaches an undergraduate introductory criminal law course and a graduate course in White Collar Crime.

A graduate of Kenyon College and the University of Cincinnati College of Law, Andrew has over 30 years of criminal trial experience.  He began his career as a trial assistant in Shelby County, OH where he handled both felony and juvenile court prosecutions and later joined the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office where he has served for more than 25 years.  He currently serves as the Supervising Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in the White-Collar Crime/Corruption in Government Unit at the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office. prosecutor. 

As an experienced trial attorney, he has prosecuted cases involving violent crimes, sex offenses, property crimes, and all forms of fraud, theft, financial exploitation, and public corruption.  He is a frequent speaker at professional development events and community outreach programs, including participating in the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Elder Justice outreach initiative.  As a coach and judge for high school and college mock trial and moot court programs, he enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience about the legal system and is proud to see his students go on to successful careers.
