Comm Arts at X-Day: Preparing for the Future
April 6, 2017 |
Graduating high school is such an exciting and scary time, and it's important to have the right kind of guidance. In order to assist the search for the right place for students to fit in, Xavier University holds X-Day to alleviate the stress of college searching and get students excited about their future.
X-Day gives prospective Musketeers an opportunity to come visit the campus and see what the Xavier experience is like. The event offers a full day of events for both parents and students and allows high schoolers to get a feel for their future.
"X-Day was a great experience for me because it really attracted me with the Jesuit message of kinship," said current Xavier student Danny Schwartz. "I was surprised that this aspect of Xavier had such an impact on me, but I learned a lot about it through my experience at X-Day." Schwartz, a current Xavier Junior with double majors in Public Relations and Advertising, thanks X-Day for helping him fall in love with Xavier. Schwartz will be graduating in spring 2018 and is looking forward to his future at and beyond Xavier University.
As a student myself, I wasn't able to make it to X-Day. I came to Xavier as a psychology major from Phoenix, AZ. I didn't know much about what I was majoring in, but it was definitely something that I was interested in. Coming from so far away, I couldn't attend X-Day before my freshman year but I wish I could have. While psychology was something that was cool to me, I realized it wasn't the right path for me, and that's when I found Communication. The Comm Arts department was incredibly helpful and accommodating to my process of changing majors, but a discussion at X-Day before I came to Xavier may have helped me make my decision sooner.
The Communication Arts Department, along with many others, will be available to provide information about the program and discuss the future with prospective students at X-Day.
The event takes place Sunday, April 23rd, register today! And be sure to stop by the Comm Arts table to meet Comm Arts faculty and students!
