Kurt Hollender
Assistant Director of Experiential Learning
Dr. Kurt Hollender serves as Xavier’s Assistant Director of Experiential Learning. He is Xavier’s main point person for reporting on and expanding student access to experiential learning (internships, study abroad, research with faculty, high-impact student employment, and other outside-the-classroom learning opportunities).
Before coming to Xavier, Hollender served as a German professor and the Head of the German Section at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University in Minnesota, where he built many experiential learning opportunities for students including study abroad trips, collaborative research projects, and high-impact student employment positions. His students have landed in competitive positions across the world.
Hollender received his Ph.D. in German from New York University and his B.A. in Modern Languages and Literatures from Kenyon College. He is a member of the Society for Experiential Education and the National Association of Colleges and Employers.
