Residency Experiences

What are the residency experiences?

Three times in the program you will engage in short, in-person meetings with your cohort. Think of these as small-scale utility management conferences, including breakouts on important topics to modern water utility managers as well as workshops and seminars for deep, classroom type learning.

The Orientation Residency

This experience kicks off the program on Xavier’s campus! The weekend features an orientation to your new program, keynote speakers, networking happy hours, the "Managerial Challenge" competition, and topical presentations by water experts. Click here for a tentative schedule of activities.

The Abroad Residency

A life changing, immersive 10-day experience. You will dive into the world of water utility management in cultures different from your own, sharing and gaining knowledge with top water utility managers across the globe. Learn more about the Study Abroad Residency.

The Capstone Residency

This experience closes out your journey in the MS in Water Utilities Management program. It’s a celebration of all that you have learned! Check out the tentative schedule below:

Day 1:

  • Fly in
  • Dinner and keynote speaker, networking happy hour after.

Day 2:

  • Morning: Breakfast, then Managerial Challenge. Wait! You’ve seen this before? That’s right; you’ll be challenged again to solve real business problems, except now you have the full support of your training in the MS in Water Utilities Management!
  • Lunch: Off campus, speaker/panel discussion
  • Afternoon: Capstone Presentations. Students will present the culmination of months of hard work, teaching cohort peers and colleagues about their important research.
  • Evening: XU Basketball Game! You can’t be a proper Musketeer without attending a Xavier athletics event. Enjoy dinner and drinks at the game with a presentation of the Best Capstone Project Award at halftime.

Day 3:

  • Fly home.
