Executive in Residence

Professional development is essential to the vibrant water utility community. One only needs to look as far as the well-populated water utility conferences and numerous training and networking opportunities provided by our educational partners.

In the MS in Water Utilities Management, we double-down own professional development. Each of our Residency Experiences features workshops, panels, and networking to boost our students’ careers. However, we host an Executive in Residence who works to cultivate impactful professional development throughout the duration of the entire program.

Our Executive in Residence is a very well-experienced water executive who has demonstrated great leadership within the water utility industry.

Their tasks include:

  • Holding office hours for students to ask pressing career-related questions like:
    • If you were starting over today, what skills or roles would you prioritize earlier in your career?
    • How do top managers stand out? What is my road to advancement?
    • I currently work in…, but I’m interested in …. Do you have any connections who might meet with me to discuss their career?
    • Which conference certifications do you think are the most valuable to earn?
    • And more!
  • Facilitating two public-facing webinars oriented around water management career issues
  • Serving as the Capstone thesis advisor, helping nudge students to find answers to impactful research questions
