Sydney Jefferson
Assistant Director, Sorority & Fraternity Life
Sydney Jefferson's passion for leadership, student development, and building meaningful communities began during her time at Miami University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Spanish. As a member of the Miami Track & Field team, Sydney competed in the hammer throw and shot put while balancing an active and engaged campus presence. She served as a peer mentor, was a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and was recognized for her impact and leadership through several prestigious honors, including Greek Woman of the Year, the President's Distinguished Service Award, and the Leann Grimes Davidge Award, which recognizes a female student-athlete who exemplifies leadership, scholarship, community service, sportsmanship, and athletic achievement.
Driven by a commitment to empowering students and fostering belonging, Sydney continued her educational journey at the University of Connecticut, where she earned a master's degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs. While at UConn, she worked in the Center for Fraternity and Sorority Development, supporting student leaders and enhancing the fraternity and sorority experience through education, leadership development, and community engagement initiatives.
Following graduation, Sydney joined the University of Cincinnati as Program Manager for the Office of Sorority & Fraternity Life. In this role, she partnered with students, alumni, and campus stakeholders to cultivate vibrant Greek-letter communities, advance student leadership, and create opportunities for growth both inside and outside the classroom. Throughout her career, Sydney has remained passionate about helping students discover their potential, build meaningful connections, and create lasting impact within their communities.
Outside of work, Sydney enjoys slowing down with a needlepoint project, diving into the latest Netflix documentary, and spending quality time with family, friends, and loved ones. She believes that some of life's most meaningful moments are found in community, conversation, and shared experiences.
