Eligibility and Cost

ELIGIBILITY

The applicant must be in good academic standing at the University, which is a GPA of 2.0 or above. The applicant must also be in good judicial standing, or not be on disciplinary probation. The student must demonstrate the maturity and flexibility to adjust to a new culture, as well as the ability to comply with the rigors, structures and demands of the program. In addition, the student must be in good health and must be able to work well both independently and with others.

Pre-requisite: Spanish 102

Please note: The Solidarity Semester is not generally available for first year students. However, if there is interest in future participation, first year students should avoid choosing courses listed on the Courses page, as they register for courses.

COSTS

Program costs include current Xavier tuition and fees plus a special program fee which is equivalent to Xavier's room and board. The program fee covers the Nicaraguan visa, international health insurance, all program related travel/excursions, housing and all meals in Nicaragua and Cincinnati (during the orientation and re-entry weeks). Students are responsible for their international airfare, books, extra spending money, ID cards, passports and vaccinations.

Application fee: $50
Deposit: $100 (due upon acceptance to the program)
