Sociology Program

Sociology is the study of social life and the social causes and consequences of human behavior. Sociology offers many distinctive ways of looking at the world so as to offer new ideas and solutions and assess the old. Sociology offers a wide range of research techniques which can be applied in many specific areas of study and practice.

Xavier's sociology majors are equipped with a clear overview of the subject matter in a way that will relate to everyday experiences. More specifically, they have a sociological perspective based upon sound sociological methods and theories for a thorough understanding of social behavior.

Students are encouraged to include job experience by participating in an internship in local social service agencies or related organizations.
