Theoretical Astrophysics

Astrophysics ImageTo be sure, astronomical observations inform us about the many objects that populate our cosmos, as well as natural phenomena associated with those objects.  But a proper interpretation of what is being observed usually requires a theoretical study of the underlying principles that govern nature.  Present areas of research in theoretical astrophysics being explored at Xavier include star and planet formation, cosmic-ray production and diffusion, and quasar evolution in the early Universe.
