History Department Programs

The Department of History offers the following academic programs:

• History major (36 credit hours)
  • Public History Concentration for History majors
  • Applied Humanities Concentration for History Majors
• History minor (18 credit hours)
• Public History minor (20 credit hours)

Student Learning Outcomes

All history courses must address the four student learning objectives (PSLOs) identified by the department as central to our program:

• Identify sources
• Analyze sources
• Construct arguments about the past
• Explain change over time
• Students are expected to meet benchmarks for each of the four PSLOs in 100-, 200-, 300- and 400-level courses. More details are available.
