Xavier University strives to put a focus on the sustainability of its campus and growing this trait in its student body. The University has taken on the help of the Ecology Education Subcommittee to highlight courses with a Sustainability Attribute which is linked with the syllabi of certain courses offered on campus. This makes locating courses with topics in sustainability much easier.
Our campus is proud to offer a handful of majors and minors for our students that want to pursue this field, highlighted by a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Sustainability and Society, and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science. By partnering with Duke University, a student can obtain their graduate degree in Environmental Management in five years, as well as a traditional undergraduate degree from Xavier University. More information can be found on the Environmental Management Majors page here.
Xavier believes in growing our students in a well-rounded manner, and many study options are provided that allow students to experience different ways of cultures and ways of living internationally. Many of these programs intertwine with the idea of sustainability, with options to visit all seven continents. Some of these options include Costa Rica, Ireland, Wales, England, and Xavier Expeditions, which are led by Theology Professor Leon Chartrand.
