New Appointment for Dr. Kayla R. Wheeler

In December 2020, Dr. Wheeler was named Director of Research for the Center for the Study of Religion and the City, which is housed at Morgan State University. She will be leading their oral history projects, running their summer mentoring program, overseeing research grants, and working on their center's podcast. The Center is funded by the Henry Luce Foundation.

Here is the first project Dr. Wheeler started with the Center: https://www.religionandcities.org/relief. She writes, “we gave grants to 16 religious and social justice-oriented organizations, including Beloved Community Church and Seven Hills Neighborhood Houses in Cincinnati, totaling $150,00 to support their COVID-19 relief work. I led a team of six summer fellows, all POC who helped collect the oral histories.”
