Website Platform Decision Tree

When deciding what platform to choose for your student's web-based project, we recommend first assessing your learning goals. If the primary goal is for your students to present content online, we recommend a drag-and-drop editor such as Weebly or Wordpress.com.

To learn more, we also recommend watching the presentation from Digital Learning Day where Christian Sheehy from the Library's Makerspace and Jessica Murphy from DMS go over WordPress and Weebly: Web Design with WordPress and Weebly (Virtual Workshop Recording).

Infographic titled “Web Design Projects for Non-Majors: Considerations & Tool Selection” comparing two approaches. The left side emphasizes presenting content with digital media and gaining basic web skills using tools like Weebly or WordPress.com, with minimal faculty expertise required. The right side focuses on developing web design skills and presenting content, including usability testing, basic HTML, and tools like WordPress.org or Dreamweaver, requiring higher faculty support.
